Boy I had fun with this one. We are all over the map, mostly talking movies, but too much to list here. Ye best just listen.

I cannot agree with “O” enough about [REC]. It was so intense that I sat in bed with my wife screaming at the TV. I cannot speak for “Quarantine”, as I haven’t seen it but if you have an opportunity to see [REC] and you love to get scared, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

Phew I need to see it again.

I haven’t seen [REC] and have not heard the podcast. With a name like that, I expect it to be a seizure-camera, never-show-you-a-thing-so-you-essentially-scare-yourself situation. I do like how a good production can let the viewer invent everything and experience something far worse than can ever be shown to someone, but those who do it well are few and far between.

If it comes on IFC, I’ll give it a look-see, though. O seems to know his scary stuff fairly well.

As much as I agree with O on REC though, I don’t agree that it’s what Cloverfield should have been.

I can see the comparison with Blair Witch because the purpose of it was to be scary. But I really don’t think the purpose of Cloverfield was. The way I see it, it’s more about the situation and destruction and less about the thrill and the scares… Having said that, I went to see Cloverfield on that mindset and left the theater satisfied.

Thank the Maker, I now have something to listen to besides the crazy old admins next to me talking about their nasty online dating services…

BTW, I saw a total MILTDST at the gym yesterday…

I’ve been retired from being “Champion of Star Trek” since about 1993… but I am thinking of coming out of retirement to challenge Rico to a Star Trek cage match of a lifetime.

    Stay tuned. ;)

Great show guys! Couldn’t agree more with the “Bad movies gone good & good movies gone bad” segment.

Hope you guys didn’t get upset about my comment on the last cast, about the “splitting” sugestion. I truly appreciate the whole webcomics thing and sincerely hope that douchebags’ comments don’t get mixed with sugestions like mine.

…and I keep wondering if Farscape fans are an oppressed minority when compared with Star Trek tyranical fans.

Listened to this ep while playing Wrath and enjoyed it immensely, as always! Could you please tell me the name of the WOTLK song you used during the break? I think I heard it when I was in Howling Fjord but I can’t for the life of me figure out the track name.

  9. Scott

Rose: That was “Totems of the Grizzlemaw”, track #18 on the OST. :)

  10. Rico

Bearbutt – it’s on like Donkey Kong! (Cue “Amok Time” Star Trek music) ;)

  11. Rose

Thank you much Scott! I have the soundtrack and had skimmed each track but I didn’t get far enough into that one to recognize it.

How insensitive of you guys. I just shot myself the other day.

great episode guys. This was the best episode that I’ve heard, in my opinion.
“mothers I’d like to do stuff to” hahaha that cracked me up. :D

you guys kept me laughing almost the whole time, great stuff this was pure ELR gold.

You know the first time I saw The Cable Guy, I remember thinking it wasn’t that great. However every single time after my first viewing I appreciate it so much more. Now it is really one of my favorite movies and I quote it all time.

    seeeeee ya….byyyyye

You Bastards!!! No, really – just B-Man. How can you say Fight Club is only good for one viewing? And – oh irony – just after admitting you love to watch multi-layered movies a few times to get see all the depth. Well, go and check out Fight Club for the second time – maybe just to see how [spoiler] Norton’s character interacted with his alter-ego when he still didn’t know it was in fact himself [/spoiler]. Maybe then you’ll see how many tiny bits of facts and reoccurring themes are embedded in the film.

The podcast was gold, but the Fight Club remark just drove me nuts. It’s like THE most replay-able film in history. Even if you already know the twist.

  16. NSMike

Yeah, I’d say Fight Club is good for at least 3 viewings:

-Your initial viewing, where you have no idea what’s going on, and the “Aha!” moment eclipses the rest of the film
-The second viewing, where you catch at least 1/2 of the stuff you missed on the first one, now that you’re clear on what’s going on
-Your third viewing, where you appreciate just how awesome it all is, and pick up on some of that 2nd half of stuff you missed.

You can watch it more, but it’s better with longer waits in between.

And as far as last week’s episode being “boring,” I would just like to say that you may have had a number of new listeners last week thanks to the award, and they didn’t really get a taste of what ELR is. I hope they stuck around for this week’s show.

  17. missiondeep

Hehe…I’ve watched fight club twice…so I guess the third times the charm. Alright. I’ll watch it again…but if it does not increase my enjoyment I’m calling you out on the show. :)
