This one is all about the Indy world, and I gotta tell you. One of the best shows I have ever done. Really had fun with it. Brian and O, and even Randy join in to talk about everyone’s favorite whip user.
Additional thanks to GoDaddy, YouBuyNow.com, O, Brian, Randy, Scott Fletcher, Rob Goobers, Skyhawk, Sebastian Gibabits, various contributors, and YOU! (And Darrel for his help with the ELR Playhouse bit at the top.)

Woot, I was getting worried there might be no show today. Going for a nice long walk to listen to it now.
Currently a problem with the download.
iTunes needs authorization from this site
Direct download ends in an error…
Though all things being equal. By the time I post this it will probably all be fixed.
Zune gives it a “download error”. dahr.
tnx 4 teh spoilers guys
We warned you about the common knowledge you refer to as spoilers.
And as for errors, try now. Should be cleared up.
best show you guys have done in a while.
You love me long time?
Agreed with everything you said about Indy.
I almost walked out at the waterfalls. My suspension was totally shattered. Boo Indy 4.
Thanks to all who went to see Indy 4 first. You guys came back and complained about how much it sucked….so much so by the time I went today my expectations were so low that I actually thought the movie was great. There were moments in the movie I thought that I could have done without…but not enough to distract me from having fun.
I hardly even noticed the gophers…I was actually disappointed by how small a part they played after Scott’s tirade.
“Do you love him” is easily the best O line of the last 100 shows, maybe ever
I agree with all of it but no one mentioned shooting the swordsman as a best moment, it was genius.
And scott, yeah some of those were spoilers, best to err on the side of caution.
come on people, it’s a show about indiana jones, when you first heard the words at the beginning of the show, you had to expect spoilers.
The movie was great… I would say the best Indy flick so far. the naysayers are full of bad dates.
You saw a different version then. I liked DOOM better.
Though not by much. And that is saying something since I hated DOOM worse than bleeding warts.
I’m in agreement with NeuroMan. I thought it was a great movie. From what I’ve heard so far, you hate the movie because of the CGI.
Kingdom if the Crystal Skull was a good movie because it was essentially the combination of the two genres of film that Spielberg is a master at. Action Adventure and Science Fiction.
You have to understand that an filmmaker’s primary obligation is to their vision, not what others may perceive as good. It took 19 years for the saga to be complete. What better way than to plausibly tie in Sci-Fiction and Action Adventure elements into a film, than explore the possibility of a alien influence in ancient culture.
The first film featured a Jewish artifact. The second featured a Hindi artifact. The Last Crusade featured a Christian artifact. Shouldn’t the next adventure trump all those. And what better way to do that than feature an Alien artifact.
In fairness as i walked out the theater I didn’t have that same feeling of closure and satisfaction as I did when Indy, Henry, Marcus and Sallah all rode off into the sunset In The Last Crusade. However, I decided to see the film for a second time. and i have to say that I am glad I did.
The second time I was able to focus on the characterization and the quality of the film. It suddenly became obvious why it took nearly two decades to finish the saga. the filmmakers wanted to wait until audiences were ready accept the possibility of an extraterrestrial involvement in Human History. The universe is such a massive place. We are a pale blue dot in an ocean of possibility. I loved the line about aliens being archaeologists. I mean isn’t it fascinating to think that an extraterrestrial presence may be just as curious about us as we are of them.
Anywhoo… I’ve been a loyal ExtraLife fan for a couple of years, and I am sorry that it took me so long to participate on this site. Scott, you should definitely see the film again. For no other reason than to give Henry Jones Jr. another chance. Do it for Indy… and for America.
On the subject of the comeplete movie set I’ll wait for the whole movie set even if some of them are bad
Willow Sucks!
Great episode. It was good to hear Brian talking a lot more than usual!
I disagree with you about the ant scene, Scott. It’s one of the things I thought they set up really well — the ants themselves were definitely very Indiana Jones — but then screwed up by departing from the formula. The way they warded off the ants ruined it for me. Indy should’ve escaped using his wits, not magic.
Boldly Going said: “From what I’ve heard so far, you hate the movie because of the CGI.”
You might wanna finish the episode then.
Due to input from my many trusted sources, I’m not going to be seeing this movie anytime soon. It is not what Indian Jones is supposed to be, and is what it’s not.
If I go to IJ, I don’t wanna see X-Files, and if I go to X-Files, I don’t wanna see IJ.
Loved the ‘you can’t spoil something that is bad to begin with’ attitude.
“Nuk-u-lar”? Really, Scott? Yeesh. That was one of my big problems with the movie – that Indy with a freakin’ PhD didn’t know how to pronounce the word nuclear. Then you go & do it too. *sigh*
Other than that I totally agree with your assessment of the film. I’m just going to go watch Last Crusade & pretend that Crystal Skull didn’t happen.
Damn, Scott. You didn’t play the message I sent last week. I thought it would go well with the Indiana Jones theme. Ah well. Maybe next week.
My wife & I are going through a real crisis right now. Our marriage is fine, we’re just dealing with a bunch of junk that’s beyond our control. This film came along at the perfect time. I agree with Randy: “good, not great.” I still sat there & had a great date night with my wife & felt like I was 10 years old again. Far from perfect, but more fun than I’ve had in a long time.
Scott Said: You might wanna finish the episode then.
I managed to get through the rest of it. So you didn’t like it because it wasn’t the exact same thing as all of the others. The science and biology weren’t perfect, I’ll give you that, but it was a great flick. Who cares that he didn’t use his whip every fifteen minutes? After all, Jone’s is in his 60′s. It’s not like he can just up and exert that amount of energy whenever he wants. In my most humble of opinions, you made yourself hate this movie by believing that the franchise’s revival would ruin it. By checking your hopes at the door you might have also left behind the kid who wouldn’t care about such minute and unimportant “flaws”.
meh…make up your own minds. You know how I feel about it.
LUCAS DID NOT WRITE THE MOVIE!!!!!
I agree with what Brian said, the comic made me worry that the movie was going to suck, and as such lowered my expectations enough that only a few things bothered me; The refrigerator scene (I found the gophers to be funny, and not universe breaking), Shia’s Tarzan act, the way “magnetism” seemed to work, and to a much smaller extent (now, it bugged me more at the time) the sword fight.
I think it helped that my wife and I watched the trilogy again before going, so as to not keep those movies on such a high pedastal.
The important thing is that Shia LeBouf got racked in the balls several times over during the jeep scene.
DaveMonkey: Other than the fact that he is credited at the top of the movie as being one of the writers.
Oh…and this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0367882/
Wrote the story. Interesting.
