Not sure why, but this story about George and Shat just cracks me up, and I can help but picture the big event in my own head. Enjoy.
Looks like the Shat hit the fan -Wokka, wakka, wakka…..
How many Trekkies are going to come in here and say “Hey! Takei played Sulu!”
Why is Altman wearing a dress?
Now, that I’ve woken up a bit. That’s apparently not Altman. Who is that and why’s he wearing a yellow dress at a wedding?
the guy is wearing a wedding dress because he’s getting married….George is gay…..get it? Comedy isn’t hard, explaining it is…..
If anyone says “he did not play Checkov”, then they don’t know me and my sense of humor very well.
Another note…he is not Korean either.
I hope those of the cast who hate him watch Boston Legal every week and weep over their own comparatively feeble talent and careers. Three cheers for the Shat!
Love Boston Legal, The shatner and george.. 😛 if he was younger i might put on a yellow dress.. lol.
I’m assuming you knew he was Japanese which is why you used the Korean joke to make Bill look like more of an ass…
Shanter is silly, mr Sulu is japanese!
LoL at the look of Brad Altman.
It look like the whole Enterprise crew is invited to the wedding except the captain:
“The venue for their September 14 ceremony only has room for 200 people.”
“Our contact list has 3,500 names, so we have to whittle it down”
We had 200 rooms for invitations and you know, we prefer to invite red shirt number 285 instead of that fat ass.. I mean our beloved old friend William “Kirk” Shatner.
I must admit I am quite taken with Has Been\’, even though I rosegnice Common People to be the more commercial/mainstream song.Shatner is an interesting individual even if you put the whole Star Trek thing aside. I do wish however that he would shut up about how popular he is right now and how it is financial ruin not to put him in the new trek movie. But yes brilliant CD have you heard his earlier one with Ben Folds In Love\’ it is equally good.Lee\’s last blog post..
He wasn’t invited to my wedding either, and for most of the same reasons.
The only real difference is that I married a woman, and it wasn’t in California.
He crashed it, but kept calling me Uhura.
William Shatner who?
William Shat’ner bathroom and it is STINKY in there!
I noticed the bride isn’t wearing white! Dun dun dun !
Great inthigs. Relieved I\’m on the same side as you.
I just think it’s rather typical to assume one of the people at a gay marriage will be wearing a dress. It’s not comedy. It’s a tired, old gag and a rather insensitive and seriously unneeded stereotype. It’s bad enough the media chooses to focus on the freaks instead of the regular guys out there who just want to be left alone (which the ones who just want to be left alone are most of them).
I’m sure they’re thanking their lucky stars to have such a representation. GJ
Who got time? Millions of Contractor’s, sales workers on the rd, canoultsnts, people with night schedules, weekend workers with days off during the week, parents picking up their kids at school! BTW, AM also offers liberal bias and broadcasting in the middle of the day. You feel the same about those listeners?
And confusing one Asian race for the other isn’t an old comedy gag? Comedy is comedy is comedy. Old and re-hashed is fine as long as it works -and this worked. And last I checked the “media” isn’t portraying Gays/gay marriage in a bad light, I’ve see no shots of the pride parade and some guy wearing ass-less chaps. I’ve only see loving couples -and that is national and local news, and i live in the freakin’ south. Now, Fox News might be showing another story and or footage…..
Sorry but the comic is funny. Don’t get all high and mighty and make Scott look like an insensitive homophobe. Go a head and call me one, but just let me tell you I have 2 aunts who are gay -maybe 3- and an Uncle who is not only gay but Deaf! I like to call him, “the double threat”….
The comic is funny.
Don’t let political correctness rule your life.
Hey Eric, I don’t think that the joke isn’t the dress. It looks to me that it is only there to make it very clear that this is a wedding scene.
Errr, don’t think the joke IS the dress.
It says what the event is right on the comic. The guy in a dress is just unnecessary and not the least bit funny anymore. The only thing really needed for the joke is the drunk Shatner and Takei’s expression. The real Altman (who’s never worn a dress AFAIK and won’t at the wedding either) would have been better; less chance of pulling away from the real gag with an insulting image of them.
Yup, that’ll do it. You have my apncarietiop.
If you want to talk about this and your position so I can better understand why this is so offensive to you, drop me an email. Glad to chat about it.

Sorry. I’m done. I’ll email next time (though I doubt it’ll come up again given the track record). Just one of the gripes my gay friends have had, and it’s to the point of bugging me, too, of how blindly we portray them. Probably because I was guilty of the same things in the past.
Truthfully, it left a bad taste in my mouth, too. Gay men can be together without one having to take on the role of “butch” and the other “fem.”
Why is it all my gay friends LOVE this comic and all my straight friends have problems with it?
Scott, I’ve known you and your work long enough to know that you don’t have a mean-spirited, xenophobic bone in your body. It’s not like I was angry or anything – just kinda raised an eyebrow and went, “Hmm.”
Let’s move on… this has already been built up way past its level of importance…
All good, D.
