About this comic
It is probably a strange thing for some to know that I spent an entire evening the other day thinking primarily about hobos. Could not get them out of my mind, and this little sequence of a comic kept playing over and over in my mind. Hence the results.

Man there are days I feel just like this guy.
WOOT first poster here too.
Scott, have you been playing Penny Arcade’s game with the killer hobos? Could explain why you were thinking of Hobos.
Nope…never played it.
Love it.. reminds I was watching the South Park with the homeless the other day..”Change?”
Check out John Hodgman’s book “The Areas of My Expertise”… there’s a section on Hobos, including a list of 700 hobo names. He reads all of them in the audiobook, with Jonathan Coulton playing music in the background.
Haha Scott, you got such a lovely twisted humor
)
Hobo would make a nice recurring character as long as he always has his sack with him. Nice one, Scott!
“Hobo for the win!”
But is it a Gigantique Sack?
In case you’d ever like to find a hobo name for yourself –

Why is the train as big as he is?
Reminds me a little of my favorite animated ELTV short “Crash”. This would make a great animation as well.
I’m a railroad fan, so I think about hoboes from time to time as well. Make sure to learn the secret hobo language.

You have perfect timing Scott. You made it just in time for this:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Hobo_Convention
“The National Hobo Convention is held on the second weekend of every August in the town of Britt, Iowa, organized by the local Chamber of Commerce. The National Hobo Convention is the largest gathering of hobos, rail-riders, and tramps, who gather to celebrate the American traveling worker.” National Hobo Convention August 8th, 9th and 10th, 2008.
So he died? That’s depressing.
Umm… Did you spend the day in a boxcar? Playing with a model railroad?
@Raybiker:
“Some hobos communicate by email and cell phone…” Wow. I so want a genuine photo of a hobo with a laptop, or one on a cell phone. I am into pictures with irony or dichotomy.
“Hobo for the win!” is now today’s phrase
As i’ve said before, I’d like to jump on a train with two long hooks and after embedding them in the outer layer pretend to steer the train with them.
@mercator
That would be a first for me, too. Maybe the guy who runs that site has hoboes confused with hippies?
Nothing wrong with thinking about hobos, Scott. There was a point in high school where all my friends wore “hobo gloves” as often as possible. They were basically really cheap gardening gloves with the fingers cut off, but they sure made us feel hoboish.
I wish the Hobo for the win was a wallpaper
Obviously on the way to Hobopolis!

This should have been a Back to the Future 3 side story! Hobo jumps on train not knowing Doc Brown and Marty were using it to get back to 1985.
I saw it and had a flash of that scene in Gears of War involving the train flying into the pit to release the payload…
