I agree with DLC a while after the game is released, but releasing weapons that can be downloaded for a fee at the same time the game is launched is unacceptable. The only reason they are not in the game is so EA can leech extra money from you. Map packs, etc. are different because they additional content that is not completed until a while after the game’s release, and are totally optional if you are happy with what you have. In this case, those with the downloaded weapons will likely have an advantage over those who did not pay for them.

I was confused about the outcry because I thought you were talking about the ultra-cool looking Battlefield Heroes. Still, you pay for new maps, don’t you? You pay extra of the “iPod” audio jack in your car sterero, you pay extra for cheese, and you pay extra for left-handed scissors. Quit whining, and let the nice folks at EA make some more money on our desire to sit on our asses and play stoopid video games. sheesh.
