About this comic

Watched a documentary on Netflix called “Special When Lit” from 2009, all about pinball and it’s rise to popularity, and fall from grace in the face of video games. Really interesting stuff, and highly recommended viewing. It got me in the mood to mash up some visuals with today’s comic.

UPDATE: Now available on the store as a print.

I can’t even tell you how much I want to play that goofy, wavy-arm-monster pinball game.

  5. YES! I remember the days when arcades were more pinball than videogame. I must see that… however, it looks like a streaming thing–it’s in the search engine as a suggestion, but doesn’t come up for me. I may just have to buy the thing, heh heh.

Thanks, and for me, it was always Williams machines for the win: Firepower and Black Knight!

I just watched this too. I’v been on a video game documentary kick on netflix recently. Chasing Ghosts was amazing too, far better than Kings of Kong I felt. It really covers the golden era of gaming well.

Okay, time to start playing The Who. Thanks for that Scott ;)

  8. Rarely do comics evoke a sound of delight out of me. THis one did. I did see that documentary and it RAWKED! I love pin ball. Twilight Zone is my fav. t.v. show and fav. table.

Try going to the Games tile in Windows 8, then selecting Pinball FX2 from the Game Activity or any other soecitn. A pop-up should appear with a couple options: Play and Explore game. Select Explore game and take a look at the game extras/add-ons. It should give the option to Buy extra once you’ve clicked on one of the add-on tables. If that doesn’t allow you to buy a table, you’ll need to talk to Microsoft’s customer support.

One of my dreams is to own a pinball machine one day. Too expensive for now though, I’ll stick with my many many electronic versions. Been so long since i’ve played a real pinball game though… don’t have any arcades near me anymore.

If you are near Seattle there is a cool Pinball Museum about 5 blocks NE of the stadium. You pay $10 and play them all.
