Keeping up with the Throneses

About this comic

While I’ve not seen Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones yet, I can tell by the twitter freakout that people got to a very important part of book three. :)

People are either shocked by what happened in the story, or shocked that people are shocked. The latter group have read the book. So have I, but prefer to let people discover this stuff themselves, and not go all hipster on em.

Anyway, it’s George that gets to laugh all the way to the bank anyway. :)

Holy crap. I watched it right before bed and couldn’t sleep, my mind was racing. I need to catch up in the books after the finale next week.

    • Having read the thing I can only imagine how this all pans out on film.

Having read the book, and now seeing it. They totally got it right. It was a beautiful, horrible thing.

Am I George type then? I’ve deliberately not read the books so I can enjoy the series then go back and enjoy it all over again…but I loved the episode…

My view on the types of people in relation to GoT

    1. Haven’t watched the show, haven’t read the books, no interest, irrelevant people.
    2. Show only, no interest in books at that time.
    3. Read the books.
    4. -Studied- the books. (Massive distinction to be made from point 3)

      I’m between 1 and 2.
I’ve seen part of the series (first three episodes to give it a fair shake) it didn’t grab my attention enough to warrant more viewings from me.

I really love these books I just got 3 books today.I just met her today and got a piuctre with the author. This was from Shant. My name is Mary. I really love your books and just got the book Voski and the Archugians. I loved it and hope you write more. p.s I am shant\’s cousin. This was from Mary.

Actually the other type I see is the “morphine addict” GOT fan, when you are under the influence you think its the greatest most profound thing ever and it all makes total sense. Once you’re off the drug you look back and realise it was all a total trainwreck that made no sense and could have been written by a group of monkeys on crack. But really I just fear it will become another LOST where there was moments of brilliance but the payoff did not live up to the expectation. I honestly hope I am wrong cos I need a fix real bad.

  4. Thomas says:

It’s “the latter”, not “the later”. Also, I didn’t have to read the books – it’s all on WP. And I really shouldn’t have read those WP pages in advance, it spoiled this latest episode and will probably few more more in the future. I wish someone would just erase all of WP ;)

  5. Ross says:

I haven’t read the books and thought it was the best/worst episode so far! :)

  6. Foxlore says:

Just watched it. Never read the books…WTH! Had not idea that was coming.

The old adage, ‘fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me’ comes to mind.

Not sure I can stay invested in this show at this rate.

I think Mr. Martin is just playing with us.

    • Kannan says:

I can tell you now that George has absolutely no problem killing off major characters when it suits the needs of the story. I CAN tell you that he’s not just playing with us though, the story really IS going somewhere…and if it’s going where I think it’s going then it’s going to be really awesome.

  7. Josh says:

Read all the books so far and though I don’t like all the choices they have made with the show I do like it an cant wait to see the next couple episodes. This seasons finale should be epic. They are finally getting into my favorite parts of the books.

  8. Frankie D. says:

It’s when they find out who killed Jon Arran and thus caused all this in the first place that I’m waiting for…

  9. Joseph L says:

Such likeness of GRRM, awesome there Scott. What is crazy is the text I got from a friend of mine who watched the show, and hadn’t read the book yet. “What the F’in F did I just F’in watch?”

I remember how graphic it was in the book, esp the aftermath. I know they can’t always film everything in the book, but I think they did well with what source. I can’t wait for Joff’s wedding.

  10. Having never read the books or watched a single episode I can safely say that I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

I like cats. Anyone else like cats? :P

  11. I like the Zelda coffee cup. Spot on sir!
The odd part about George RR Martin is that is still lives in his normal size house in Arizona and will probably find a way to take his money with him!

Reaction of a webcartoonist who apparently hadn’t read the books:

  13. Russ says:

G.R.R. Martin in the last frame looks like Henry VII to me. haha i feel like he should have a different hat to make the image complete. :)

  14. Lavaskajunkie says:

From someone who has not read the books all I can say is WTF!!!!

  15. Vake Xeacons says:

Not much of a fan but I have to agree. Either take it or read it. Love Captain Kirk with his Zelda mug!

  16. Patrick says:

I think you forgot one type, Scott… the ones who haven’t read the books but who had a blast with the episode. I have a friend like that, and there are quite a few more on the official GoT facebook page.

  17. Teton says:

Right on. I haven’t read the books, but my wife has. We both love HBO’s GoT’s. You read the books, you know where were going. but either way, this is a great trip GRRM is taking us on.

  18. Jack Fox says:

I like the Tri-Force Emblem on that Coffee Mug.

    I want one.

My Coffee mug has Badger’s on it.

I am going to highly recommend this web site!
