Comic: “The same but different”

Personally looking forward to TSO…think it sounds like a fun world to play in, and time will tell how much of the typical MMO stuff carries over.

I have it patched and ready to go when I get home. Hope to get some gaming in on it even thou it is a beta so I do expect crashes, glitches, etc.

Scott, awesome job on this comic! just read this one while downloading the beta so I can give a review on my audiocast tonight! Thanks again for the laugh.

I have that feeling Scott, that it may feel like a lot of deja-vu in realtion to other MMO starts. I’m a big trek fan as well and I think I’ll give this a try, but after looking at it on the website, I’m just not sure about it.

That is why I am back to playing EverQuest – the best MMO of all times…

  5. Martijn

Hilarious. The comic reader app works great by the way.

The next MMO I play will hafta be a the next generation… And I don’t mean Star Trek neccessarily.

    I love that he’s in a red shirt :-)
    Those rats must be nasty

  8. BryanDavidWilliams

Yeah.. exactly. It wouldn’t be right if there where no rats. Maybe they will drop a communicator?

Do Federation-characters have to deal with the Prime directive ?
Or can they ignore it whenever it suits the plot/mission just like in the tv-shows/movies ?

  10. JaFO

Come to think of it … you probably have to use lots of diplomacy with these rat-like creatures, because you aren’t commit genocide as Federation. ;)

Similar to one of the subplots in a Deep Space 9 episode. There were Cardasian Mole-Rats or some such chewing up the electrics in the Geoffrey Tubes.

  12. MXC

    I get it!

Also, the guys arm in the last panel looks to be in alot of pain.

    Awesome comic Scott :)

I have seen STO in beta – its very cool – cannot wait for it to come out. the character and ship creator give some neat options.

    Can I be a red-shirt? I really want to be a red-shirt! ;-)

Oddly reminiscent of the starter Human quest…

It’s a pretty good game so far, Scott. I’ve played a couple hours now and so far no “kill 10 x for 15 y” quests. Actually kind of feels like you’re playing out an episode.

  19. Jason Stanley

Absolutely hilarious and accurate!! The joy of killing rats…

  20. Paintguy

Never underestimate the power of the R.O.U.S.

    Great comic.

  21. Lordcraft

Like Travis said — Played for a couple of hours, no such “collect 10 x” quests yet. Although the quests are of more “save X” nature or “destroy Y”. But all of them in a very nice succession, as if in a episode!

Tribbles would explain the quick mobs respawn…

I have to show my nerd here. Someone misspelled Jeffies tube. Made my head asplode.

The term “Jefferies tube” was originally an inside joke among the original Star Trek production staff, a reference to Original Series art director Matt Jefferies, the man who designed the original starship Enterprise. – Wikipedia
