My beef is that they dumb it down for the audience and re-brief us right before the action sequence.

They added to the scale, and heck its just an effect. They only had an impact on the experience to those who were looking for something to criticize. As for Roger Cline’s comment. It’s called a mission briefing. You do it before a mission so you know what to do during the mission. Pretty basic procedure for any military force.
