About this comic

Been thinking about this game lately, and when that happens, a comic usually comes out the other side.

  1. Brian Duff says:

Oh Crap… Scott divided by zero.

  2. Mary Varn says:

Haha, I like this one. I pondered the same thing when first playing the game. I wonder how many times I’ve blown up the earth trying to shoot a portal on top of another portal.

  3. Davad says:

It’s also like the Futurama episode where they have alternate universes in blue and yellow boxes.

  4. Eric says:

(Leave it to me to bring logic into this. Sorry. I’m obsessive that way.)

They can’t be picked up with good reason… but what if one was on a moving platform and it pushed one portal through the other? (The plaform would have to be oblong and at an angle to fit.) Now, let’s think about this. The angled tip comes through one portal and comes out the other portal, but that’s on the other side of the initial portal so it would have to be on the other side of the second portal, but that’s on the other side of the initial portal so it would have to be on the other side of the second portal, but that’s on the other side of the initial portal so it would have to be on the other side of the second portal, but that’s on the other side of the initial portal so it would have to be on the other side of the second portal…

Yeah. As Brian Duff said, Scott over zero. A physical/logical impossibility would occur. You killed us all Scott! :x

  5. Tei says:

This has ben done in game. The result is a interesting image, with rings and rings and rings on the rings. Much like two mirrors mirroring each other.

  6. Alkey29 says:

It’s like one of those “divide by 0″ instances. ;)

  7. RedDwarfian says:

How many times do I have to tell you, you NEVER put a Portable Hole inside a Bag of Holding! BAD STUFF happens!

  8. Eric says:

Tei: While I thought the engine would close a portal that came too close to intersecting another, that effect would happen because the engine has a cap on how many times it will pass through a portal to process an image. It won’t go on forever unlike the mathematics behind it. The concept ends up with a spatial continuity that can never be resolved.

  9. Eric says:

Ya know, I think GLaDOS would have been crazy enough to do that portal-within-a-portal just to stop the lady from getting out (if she did… she looked dead to me).

  10. Lindorphio says:

This is truely and awesome comic Scott.

    The Cake is a Lie
    The Cake is a Lie
    The Cake is a Lie
    The Cake is a Lie

  11. MMCD says:

Actually I managed an orange one inside a blue one before, I had to kill myself via console :(

Basically I just kept firing into the blue one ’til an orange portal appeared, I stepped inside and it put me outside a wall, in floating black space :( was so annoying…

  12. Lord Zeon says:

MS Paint Adventures is what happens when you stick a portal through another portal.

  13. Stele says:

Great idea for a comic. Of all the games I’ve played, Portal is one that keeps popping into my head. Come on Portal 2. Would have been cool to see the ends of his fingers around the edges of the portal on the ground.

  14. Jack says:

If we happen to invent portals like that… i would bet money that’s what would happen!

  15. Eric says:

I’m wondering if Portal 2 will actually be HL2:E3. Remember the ship?

  16. CyberDragon says:

Do not touch the operational end of the device.
Do not look directly at the operational end of the device.
Do not submerge the device in liquid, even partially.
Most importantly, under no circumstances should you– *static*

So that is what the last line is supposed to be :)
