About this comic
I can only speak for myself, but I am genuinely excited to see what impact all this VR stuff actually has on us. I’m bullish on all the positives so I have a hard time seeing a downside, but there’s gonna be stuff…what stuff is a guess, but stuff nonetheless.
I’m just excited that the VR promises of so many years ago look actually possible now.
I’m not. We tried Augmented Reality and nobody went for it. So strap your cellphone to your face, and now, suddenly it’s a craze? Not buying it (double meaning).
Augmented reality is a very different beast. Even the phone based VR applications (as in, uses of the technology, not apps) can be quite convincing, let alone the full versions like Rift and Vive
A friend and I used to play Diablo 2 online and would type back and forth to each other to communicate between kills. One day we had an evening LAN party – we got together at his house to play and after about a half hour of typing back and forth I realized the idiocy and said, “Why are we typing back and forth? We’re sitting 10 feet apart!”
The Matrix gets a little more on point with each passing day.
