Quick reccomendation for you for a App that will keep up with expenses for your Vehicle. Gas Cubby, it will help you keep track of services for your vehicle and also for Gas expenses. After the first of either uses it will show a graph for how much you are spending. Nice little App to see how much $$$$ you put into your vehicle.
    The App is from http://appcubby.com
Not sure on Price but it’s in the App Store. Maybe $9.99

Being a gamer I’m currently deeply, madly in love with Zenonia.

This is a fantastic RPG- definitely the best “Real Game” on the Iphone and Ipod Touch.

I could go on and write a full review up, if you like.

    - iFitness – decent for logging workouts, cardio, etc
    - Evernote – very cool organization tool – mainly when combined with desktop versions.
    - TwitterFon – follow Lyndal (and Funktios for my twitter service hitting beta in a couple weeks)
    - Remember The Milk (for subscribers of their service only) – Critical to my daily life.
    - Kindle reader

    …Games…
    - The Creeps – best game I’ve played on iPhone. Must buy!
    - Flight Control – close 2nd to The Creeps – get it.
    - Chocolate Shop Frenzy (3rd favorite) – outstanding time management game. I’ve tried several similar since and they aren’t even close!
    - Big Racing (surprisingly fun)
    - Wolfenstien 3d – great fun with an old classic! I’m guessing their Doom is going to be amazing.
    - Supercross – very good but takes practice.
    - Let’s Golf = great golf!
    - Joyride – great fun
    - StoneLoops
    - Rolando – still a great game

Recently I started looking at comics on the iphone. The comic that blew me away: Sparks Part 1. It’s a Motion Comic. Just $.99. There’s a free one that isn’t motion. Go for the motion version. I’m dying for more like this.

Also enjoying Monster Commute. Steampunk style webcomic. (free)

All of the Star Trek Prequels (Countdown) were really great. ($.99 each for 4 issues) I wish everybody would read them and quit talking about not understanding what was going on with the Romulans. ::sigh::

The Elephantmen comics are very nice to look at. Not sure what to think of Issue #7, though. 1-6 were backstory, backstory, and then 7 was a birdwalk. What was it building up to? Where is the story? Perhaps it’s just trying to get people to buy the book. Regardless, I enjoyed the art. ($.99 each)

Farscape has one issue out. Also enjoyed that. Where’s the next?

There is a smattering of other comics out there. Often, the first issue is free and following issues cost $.99 each.

So far I don’t get the point of buying a comic reader for the iphone. All the comic apps I have downloaded play just fine without a reader. The drawback is that each has its own icon, so my apps list is pages and pages long. Is that what a reader is supposed to solve?

Thanks for the podcast scott and eric! Enjoyed it!

    RssPlayer – http://rssplayer.blogspot.com/

I use this to download and manage all of my podcasts on my iPhone. With this app, you no longer need to do hard syncs with iTunes or wait for the iTunes servers to update with the current podcast. I have been using this for 5 months and completely recommend it!

Tweetie. Love it to death. It’s the only Twitter app that properly manages all my Twitter accounts.

    Skype. ‘Nuff said.

WeatherBug. The only reason why I use this app is because I know the name. I don’t know if there’s a better weather app out there. It’s decent.

    Facebook. ‘Nuff said there, too.

Remote. I *LOVE* this app, especially the “Request a Song” feature.

Shazam. What a great app, and it gets the song every time. It’s a great way to capture what you’re listening to at points in your life. I wish it had more features, like “select other album” when it gets the right song, but from a compilation album (eg: I get a compilation but my friend gets the right album).

Evernote. For notes, etc. I just started using this since Notes wasn’t cutting it.

DVR. I don’t use it a LOT, but it’s damn convenient.

Simplify Media. I need to play with this more, and see if I can leave my Mac on at home and listen to my whole collection on the fly. It’s slow in updating a large library, though.

    NightCamera

    Brightkite

    Star Walk

I enjoy WootWatch. It’s a free app (I think) that allows you to quickly check the deals on Woot for that day, including the other Woot sites like WootShirt and WootWine. It’s the only way I really remember to check the deals for the day. So if you’re into Woot, it’s a good one.

I also like Shazam. It’s a free app that will listen to any song that’s playing identify it for you. Awesome for people like me who loves music and has no head for song titles or artists.

And Peggle. Dear Lord, Peggle. I don’t think I really need to explain that any further.

I’m definitely addicted to Flight Control; it’s fantastic. Obviously Tweetie and Facebook apps are a must, love Pandora on the iPhone too, and a useful little free memory tracker and control app is MemoryInfo.

Some of ones I use all the time that are not already listed:

Midomi – Lets you hold the phone up to the stereo and it will find the song title/artist for you.

Wolfenstien 3D – very good for nostalgia

Flixster – check movie times, buy tickets

Phoneflix – Netflix on the iPhone (good for when someone mentions something at lunch time when your away from a computer).

Aside from the App Store app?

I only have two that I paid for and love so far: Tweetie and ComicZeal. I cannot seem to stop playing UnblockMe Free. SolFree, BrainTeaser, and ZentominoLE are often accessed, with Flood-it! being played a little more, but not quite as much as UnblockMe.

USA Today, Yahoo!, and Express are all used, but I’m trying to see which one may be the one to keep since they often report the same stories.

    And Google.

I mainly just listen to music, but I love playing Peggle. I also love Super Monkey Ball, Uno, Sneezies and Bejeweled. Now that the Slingplayer app is out, I can watch TV on my iPod too!

I play Underworlds (Diablo clone) and RogueTouch (simple graphic Rogue port) pretty constantly. I twit with TwitterFon. Make travel plans (in NYC at least) with HopStop, make dinenr plans with OppenTable, read old books with Stanza, and listen to Pandora. I would highly recommend all of ‘em. I believe the two games are the only ones that aren’t free, and I think they’re $4.99 and $2.99 respectively.

Pandora – When I’m not listening to podcasts

I’m using two apps right now, that are now *officially* “can’t live without:

    Pandora Radio

    And

Pocket Radio, because it lets me stream XM/Sirius to my iPhone over 3G. I can’t get any reception with a real radio in my office, and they block streaming sites at work, so this app (paid app) was a HUGE sigh of relief!

MobileFiles is # 3, for access to my iDisk – I have art samples on mine, and I can can access them from anywhere now.

The one app I want is a customizable, stable portfolio app. There is one, but it’s not great. I’ll wait until great is released.

I love “ColorSplash”…very easy to use app that allows you to take any photo on the iphone and make it black and white and then highlight sections to bring out the color…Kinda hard to explain, but it is easy to do, fun, and the resulting pictures are awesome.
I also like the game “Flick Fishing”…cause i love fishing :)
And then “Flixter”…which allows me to lookup movies reviews, what is coming out on DVD this week, etc….

    Public Radio
Pianist – play the keyboard, write and record music on the iPhone

    - Lexulous (Scrabble killer that integrates nicely to play against Facebook users)

    Using
    - Lose It! (on a diet/exercise kick)
    - Kindle (some room to improve on this but still good)
    - Air Mouse (nice if you have your laptop hooked up to your HDTV and it’s across the room)

    I love Shazam.

Games-wise, Bejewelled and Peggle are hard to beat. I also played all the way through Virtual Villagers.

Night stand for utility, and Weight Bot for tracking my weight (/sigh). Evernote is great for notes, and SplashID for password management.

And my 20-month old daughter absolutely loves Peekaboo Barn – it’s just at the right level for her.

Anyone hear about or now using CardStar? It’s an iPhone app for loading your ‘club’ card barcodes so that you can get rid of all of those dang scan cards from your keychain. Heard mixed results on how well the on-screen barcodes scan in the stores. I’m trying it this week.

As a WoW player and a listener of the instance, my favorite app as of now is definitely Zenonia by gamevil. It’s very similar to WoW with 3 different classes, talent trees, and even item rarity such as epics. For those rpg lovers, this app is a must by at $5.99.

iScore is great for baseball fans who like to score games (I’m talkin’ to you, Tom Merritt). It’s a bit of a pain to enter players, but once that’s done, entering plays is easy and you can email scorecards and summaries. It gets you into the game and reminds you what happened before.

Owe Scott a big thanks. My son has had an I touch forever that I have envyed for as long. Despite disapproving glares from my wife I purchased my own I touch about 3 weeks ago. Which of course is when I ran accross this new podcast teaching me about great apps for my new purchase. I have appreciated all the great info and will be a consistant listener but here’s where the the big thanks comes … to Scott’s recommendation of Azkend! Knowing my wife’s taste in addictive desktop pc games I simply downloaded ths app and handed her my device. She no longer is a sceptic and am free to purchase more apps without the “look”. Perhaps a new I phone in my future! Thanks guys! Great show!

Don’t forget the newbee’s is some of your segments! Hints and advice etc.

I’m a gamer at heart, so i’d like to see more “serious” -games on the App Store too. A few worth mentioning are:

Zenonia – An incredible Zelda/Legend of Mana -clone which truely captures the spirit of the 16-bit era adventures. The controls are a bit awkward as Gamevil uses a virtual gamepad in every game they’ve made. It works fine, but it takes a while until you learn to no to tap the screen all over. Gamevil says it’s nearly 40h of gameplay! The missions are very much wow-like with grinding and everything. Check it out!

Baseball Superstars 2009 – Another game by Gamevil. Again a very nice 16-bit style baseball which has suprising amount of depth in its gameplay. The main mode is a season mode in the same vein as the EA’s “be a pro”-modes in their games.

If you want to see something a bit over the top check Simutrans. A *very* straightforward port of Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe. It’s so faithfully translated the menus are practically unusable as the UI is not optimized for a small screen at all. It’s kinda hilarious, actually.

Also check out Blimp – The Flying Adventures for a very beautiful and moody version of hmmm.. Space Taxi. But with a Blimp, tilt controls and much bigger levels and a story to boot!

Oh, just noticed that Zenonia has been mentioned before. No wonder, it’s a good one. And cheap.

I’m currently playing Stoneloops! of Jurassica. This game costs only 59p and is amazing fun. It’s very similar to Zuma, but includes achievements/rewards that you can work towards as you play through the game, as well as system where as you beat levels, your houses/hangouts within the jungles and deserts of Jurassica become more advanced and ‘homely’. May sound odd, but is a clever way of making the game feel like it’s progressing. Highly recommend it.

    Scott,
During the last episode you were discussing the AIM App, of which I have not tried, but my hubby and I recently got BeeJive. Here’s my take on it
I have a love-hate relationship with this App. I’ll bring on the Love first. It’s a multi-platform IMer, it’s pretty neat little App. It supports AIM, MSN Messenger, WindowsLive, Yahoo, etc… which is fantastic because not everyone’s IM friends are on the same platform. Another nice thing is that you can also link your “Buddies” to their Contact page. I believe that you can also, create a “Buddy” from your Contacts as well (not a master of the App just yet). So, you can pretty much chat with anyone on IM. If you have a buddy with IM capable phone, well “Good bye” paying for Text Msgs. The App itself is set up much like the SMS “conversations”, except you can send & receive emojis (even the proprietary styles of each platform), send pictures you’ve taken mid-text, and can choose from several neato backgrounds.

But… and there’s always a but…this is where the Hate comes in. There’s an issue with staying logged in and with ambiguously being logged in twice. It appears the developers realize that people want to stay logged in, but didn’t put code in-place to keep it from logging in again after you’ve finished playing a few rounds of Peggle. Annoying! Which brings me to being logged in; your login does expire after a while. It also often has difficultly with displaying your correct availability. We teamed up with another tech-savvy friend of ours to test it out it. We had lots of fun sitting around a large plate of nachos and IMing/texting each other for the better part of 2 hours; sending pictures and having techy banter and testing the limits of our iPhones with this App (both 3G & the 3GS). We found that it usually registered your correct availability at the “distant end” after the first exchange of text. So, it’s not exactly a one-for-one trade over SMS text, but it’s fun and convenient. Did I mention that I don’t like paying for text?
Overall I’d give this App 1/2 of a slap for its flexibility, and the fact that it’s assured I won’t be going over my texting limit anytime soon. Hopefully, the developers will address the pesky login issues and I can give you some more “skin” to that slap.

Loving 4 track and riffs. As a recording artist there are times that this little app will really come in handy. Really great because there is no latency even when bouncing from tracks to track. For 10 bucks is great!

Poddio is really nice, but certainly not as user friendly. Being able to cut, paste and rearrange recorded sound files is wonderful.

You guys are really a hoot. I laugh so hard sometimes I have to rewind to get the whole sense of what you’re saying.

Ok so here’s some of my faves.
Whole Foods – great for recipes and building a meal off of what you have in your pantry already. Just make a list and it’ll direct to a recipe for it! And there’s a handy locator too.

Tweetie – best Twitter app ever. Period. My Twitter is Spicypeanut. Shameless promotion! Count it!

VeganXpress – perfect for my vegan friends who need to know what’s vegan in popular restuarants.

IFitness – a great workout app that has routines, bmi, and perfect picture references for how to do different exercises correctly.

Trapster – tells you where speed traps, light cameras and cop hiding spots are. Cause I likes to speed, baby!

PWTorch – for us pro wrestling nerds.

Fluent News – the best news aggregator for the iPhone. This thing rocks. No more 200 news apps.

    That’s what I got!

    Best Games ……
1.) Yeti Sports . Its a lot better then the old yeti sports for the computer . You can actually control your penguin in flight picking up extra points along the way . Very addictive .

2.) 10 Pin Shuffle . Love this game . Like the old time shuffle board games you would see at bars back in the 60’s and 70;s before video games .Very hard to master.

3.) Damn you guys for telling me about Sally’s Spa . I cant help but hear the Blue Oyster Bar music start up when I play this game .

A nice and surprisiingly deep J-RPG on the appstore is Zenonia. I dont the background on the makers or anything, but I think it might be a port from the SNES. The controls are ok and the story is cliche by JRPG standards but my favorite thing about this game is… well for instance: There’s a crack house.

I have another suggestion. If you’re a fan of the show Quantum Leap there’s an app called Ziggy Lights. It’s a game patterned off of Al’s handheld unit, Ziggy from the show. The object of the game is to get all the squares lit up, and it progessively more difficult. Of course for us Leap nerds it also serves the function of being totally a faithful recreation of Ziggy. She even screams and wails just like in the show if shake or rattle your phone. Kind of 100% awesome.

I have to second Zenonia – man that game is SO worth it. Believe me, that game would be 40bucks on the DS like Chrono Trigger.

I’m using the free app Lose It! Which I would have totally bought it knowing how deep and useful it is. It lets you enter your calorie intake and gives a goal plan for how much you want to lose and by what date you’ll make it. I’ve already lost 5 pounds in one week. (crazy fast)

I just found out about this cool app called “Wakka Wakka”. When you turn this app on and put it in your pocket and walk around, the motion sensors trigger a pac man sound (Wakka Wakka), so It’s like you’re a human pac man! It’s really cool, and it’s free.

Outside of the “nuff’ Said” apps, I like the following:
    - Ambiance (now has push notification of of new sounds) – use it nightly on my Sony iPhone ready alarmclock (which I love as well).
    - Weather Eye – put out in Canada by The Weather Network – better in Canada than the built in, or the weather bug.
    - Air Sharing
    - AccuFuel – for tracking vehicle mileage – one of my favourites.
    - WebMD – free and very handy
    - Shopper – great for shopping lists
    - Units – for converting ANYTHING
    - Wobble – Add jiggly bits to pictures ;)
    - Ultimate ’stachetastic – adding a beard to pictures of my 4 year old is hilarious
    - DrawRace – just downloaded – seems really cool so far – will be fun to play with my son.
    - Smack Talk – fun for the kiddies
    - Cat Piano – also fun for the kiddies

Hey guys in response to the latest podcast, at the end of your episode you have the jailbreak app. This on is called sbsettings, i got it and its pretty handy. It goes along with you battery meter that you downloaded, this one you can set to have an exact percentage meter right next to the battery on the status bar. It does some other things too, but i recommend it.

    Hi, Scott & Eric,

Never thought I’d be into a show about apps, but you guys are doing a bang-up job & make it really entertaining!

Right now, my favorite useful app is CardStar, because I always forget my market/library/membership/liquor store/discount cards in the car, & only remember this at the register, when it’s too late to go get them. Favorite silly app is Chicktionary, even though it tends to suck battery power.

A couple of weird things I’ve discovered: my iPod Touch has a limit of 9 pages of applications, so I’m forever deleting & downloading; & my Sudoku from Mighty Mighty Good Games has frozen up.

Thanks for making a fun show, & Sally’s Spa totally does rock! I’m hoping you guys will review Oil Tycoon from LEMICO soft, because I think it has the most gorgeous interface ever!

    My Favorite Apps

Twittelator — Best Twitter app period. (I used to have multiple iPhone twitter apps Tweetie, TweetDeck, Birdhouse, but this app does everything that all of these do and u can upload video.)

Grocery iQ — after this latest update the app is definitely worth .99

WunderRadio — Bar none the best radio app on the iPhone. If you like listening to the radio u should definitely pick this one up. Only drawback the $7 price tag. But worth it in my mine. (Will replace my $14 a month XM subscription.)

WeatherBug Elite — most reliable whether app that I have found for whether accuracy. (The Weather Channels Radar seems to lag 5 min or so behind other radars)

TuneWiki — Lyrics for your music, Radio Stations, Video searches, Its a pretty loaded app. AND ITS FREE

Cell Tracker — Does a decent job of tracking my cell phone texts and minutes used and only .99

Signals — App is user updated and provides information on Cell coverage area. Would be better if more people would use it. So pick it up, its FREE.

So those are my favorite current apps on My 3GS.

I listen whilst at work in the UK – helps with the design process and always check out the apps you recommend. I’m currently into ‘Frotz’ a fantastic app that puts shed loads of text-based interactive fiction (formerly known as adventures) at your fingertips – takes me back to the days of Magnetic Scrolls etc. text based gaming, whiling (?) away the hours going east, west and south. Also its FREE.

On another note, since upgrading my Ipod Touch (2nd Gen) to OS 3.0, everytime I press the power and hold button together – to turn off or restart, I take a screenshot, which is saved to my photos. I don’t remember this happening under OS 2.1 ? Any thoughts?

    Hey dudes!

Sucked in by the whole Sally’s Spa thing… cheers for that Scott… my partner was laughing at me for a while, then she downloaded it for her ipod touch and is sucked in too :)

My favourite games Apps currently (still coming down from Sally’s Spa) :

Ragdoll Blaster (if you like physics you’ll love this)
Treasures of Montezuma (Bejewelled with loads of extras)
Geo Defense (I hated tower defense games until I tried this)
Harbour Master (Flight Control with boats, yet more charming I think)

Oh, that Meat Clock and stuff like that always remind me of Cronenbergs Naked Lunch (starring Peter Weller of Robocop fame btw.). Very disgusting and disturbing in a way.. :P That’s not for me. :P

Every shooter fan should really check out Space Invaders Infinity Gene. Scott mentioned this on ep 9 shortly. It’s out now, and it’s definitely very good. Space Invaders are hot now as DS has two great SI Extreme games.

Oh, I kinda liked a game I’m sure Scott would hate. Knights On Rush. It’s a a different kind of tower defense as you’re trying to flick away the attackers to not get to your castle’s door. Hilarious for a while, but I think it wears thin in a while.

Firstly, my Regina Spektor CD was playing at the moment you mentioned her in your podcast, cool but creepy.

    Cut that out.

Secondly, you both would have so much fun reviewing the “MyAppIdea” app.

Ideas for new apps are submitted to the “MyAppIdea” app by a mixture of geniuses and nose-pickers (not sure which I am and not sure if those are exclusive populations), then everyone votes on the new app ideas.

You truly must review the “MyAppIdea” app and read aloud some of those proposed app ideas…

RunKeeper is one of my favorite apps at the moment. It allows you to track any outdoor activity (running, walking, jogging, biking), and it keeps track of your activities on a web site. Similar to the Nike functionality, but without requiring the sensor. It plots your activity on maps showing rate and elevation, calories burned, time, etc. The latest version let’s you take pictures as well, which can be uploaded along with your route. I find it very motivating to be able to see your activity online like this.

Some of the apps I’m loving for the Ipod Touch are:
Piano Man: an awesome piano game sort of like tap-tap revenge BUT it’s with classical music
Battery Status: Gives a nice little read-out of how much battery you have left, and what you can do with the battery power
Crop for free: A nice little cropping tool to play around with, and the best part…..it’s free!
Star Wars the Force Lightsaber: Get a friend and you have an awesome in-the dark star wars battle…..it includes neat sound effects and music to go with it
Spin Art: If you’ve ever done spin art in real life, then you’ll love this app!
Pocket God: Who has never wanted to be the God of little people that live inside your Iphone/Ipod Touch?
Hero of Sparta: A neat little game, great graphics…kinda short though
    Assassin’s creed: LOVE IT!
Sally’s Spa: Need I say more?
Turbo Subs: Got it from you guys on the show…..Thanks!
Pocket Tanks: If you like the online game, here it is in app form
Jelly Car: It’s a car…..made out of jelly
Isoda/Imunchies: Cool little tricks to play on your friends….and for those who enjoy more alcoholic drinks, there’s Ibeer
Flixster: Meets all my movie needs….showtimes, movie tickets, the whole nine yards
What’s on?: Ever need to know what’s on TV but to lazy to flip through all the channels. Well here’s the app for you!
Shazam: When you have those OOOOO this is an awesome song but what the hell is the name? moments just, click on this little app and it’ll identify that song for you

Arggg curse your addicting Azkend recommendation. Such a good game! Still fighting the urge to get Sally’s Spa, but so help me, if it drops back down to $0.99 I’ll be leaving my manhood at the door and picking it up right away.

I’ve got a great new game to recommend to you, its called Lion Pride by Blue Fang Games (the guys behind Zoo Tycoon series for the PC). Its a line drawing game, but much different from likes of Flight Control and Harbor Master. You control up to 3 lionesses and you have to move them to take down all manner of animals like warthogs, zebra and buffalo. The speed at which you draw the line controls if you are stealthy or if you pounce. Pounce too early and you’ll spook your prey.

    Very fun!

I’ve just downloaded Pocket God. So much fun. Only £0.59 uk which usually means its $0.99 in the US. You play as god and have all these little tribe people to do with as you wish. you can have dinosaurs eat them, typhoons destroy them or just chuck them about. My favorite is lightening strike but thats just me. Its an addictive little game to say the least. If you’ve ever played sims just to figure out more creative ways to watch them die then you definatly wanna play this.

Been listening to you guys since a mate told me about your podcast. LOVE IT!
anyhow, I have found the app Awesomenote by BRID to be a big help with work, along with Password Manager – for those large number of passwords you seem to gain in logging onto websites etc…

I have only managed to listen to the first 4 podcasts, but travelling in a car for work from time to time I find it distracting (not too much though!) to listen in on the discussions.

    Keep up the great work.

Little bit of the future comes to the iPhone! Tick Talk reads your favourite news source to you using a sophisticated robotic british butler voice. You can customize the greeting, end saying, and the news feed source. It also has a built in alarm so you can wake up to the news. Video is available on the site idea.wirus.com/ticktalkrobot.

The app placed second in cool app category at iPhoneDevCamp. I built because I always envied those future robot wake up calls they seem to have in movies about the future.

Totally obsessed with Chocolatier right now. The interface is gorgeous, & the game is hours & hours of fun. It’s boosted my chocolate consumption more than somewhat, & I love going around smugly saying things like “Got a great deal on cashews in Trinidad.” :-)

I am a recent iPhone convert. Not a big fan of AT&T and they had spotty coverage in my neighborhood until recently. The 3GS has won me over, however.

    Top Apps:
#1 Messages — Changed how I interact with my family. On my bad, last century verson samsung, texting was so hard it was not worth it.

#2 Shazam — As ipod user for years, listening to live audio does not happen much. When it does, I’ve been so out of it for so long that I have no idea who performed it or what “it” is. Shazam knows and has yet to fail me.

#3 Ninjas Live — Really any of the “live” series from Storm8, but this one captured my attention most recently. Life changing? No. Time consuming? Yes.
#4 XEmoji — Love the Emoji character set. Call me a sucker :-)

#5 The Weather Channel — Great weather source, right amount of detail, use it every day.

#6 Nike + iPod — Trying to get in shape, data and gadget freak. What’s not to love? I walk or run nearly every day just to see my numbers go up.

#7 Urban Spoon — Never know where to go for lunch or dinner. Get a gaggle of us together, and it gets worse not better. Urban spoon either leads to a direct choice or moves the conversation past “I don’t care, where do you want to go?” infinite loop.

#8 *cough cough* Sally Spa — OK, this was my first paid app.

This is a small, top ranked sample of what I use. The list of apps is much, much longer. I’ve got 87 on my phone at the moment, which probably equals the number I’ve deleted after ~2 months as an iPhone App Junkie.

Love the show. I came to you via the The Instance. Keep up the good work. Scott, you are a beast. How many podcasts do you do? Eric, you are great…love your point of view and appreciate keeping Scott from wandering too far afield.

I recently decided to start running again. I wanted to run a local 5K around Halloween. So a couple weeks ago I found the App “Get Running”. It is a nine week training program to go from the couch to a 5K. It is a interval training program. You run three times a week and each week the runs are longer lengths with less walking. For example the first week you start off by running 1 minute and walking 1 minute 8 times( along with a 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down) and currently I’m on week 7 and running for 25 minutes without walking. The program has a nice clean interface and you are directed by a nice woman with an English accent. She gives you progress updates during the run and is very nice in encouraging you. you can listen to your music and I think I read it’s compatible with Nike+(i don’t have the sensor so I can’t confirm)

If you want to start running I highly recommend “Get Running” currently 1.99 (must have been on sale when I got it for 99 cents.)

    hey guys,

Really enjoying the show all the way from liddle ole England. As such most of my apps are ‘Britocentric’(new word), i.e.: Tv guides and rail timetables. However, i did recently download a new game called ‘fling’. Its a funky little puzzle game involving fur balls that you flick around with you’re finger. Really good fun and highly addictive.

Also i just wanted to thank you guys for two very cool recommendations…’Azkend’-i lost a week there dude! and recently Eric’s photo app ‘Koredoko’. Its great to be able to pinpoint locations like this as i haven’t yet upgraded to iphoto 09, I KNOW!

Really into Pirate Wars this week. The map is fantastic, and shopping for ships & cannons is totally awesome ~ do I want the Sloop or the Galleon? And deciding between attacking native settlements, capturing a French treasure barque, or kidnapping the governor’s daughter for ransom is priceless :-)

I run a lot, and I enjoy listening to music while running. However, I sometimes come across a song I simply don’t like, or a song I do like and would like to either skip to the next song, or turn up the volume. I’ve been waiting for an app like iGesture to come out which allows for me to control the functionality of the ipod app by using swipes or gestures. iGesture is great because it is really easy to use, and I enjoy the cool background pics. Check it out! itms://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=330170790&mt=8&s=143441

TweetMic Lite- Scott recommended Audio Boo some time back. I did not care for the “reach around your elbow” frustration of trying to post link to Audio Boo in Twitter. TweetMic automatically posts it right to Twitter with option to add literary tweet. Only caveats is it has to be recorded within app (can’t choose prerecorded from Voice Memos) and you can only add pic with the full version.

In The Mood- great app for sharing, on Twitter what music you’re listening to at that moment. Posts song title, artist etc to Twitter. Also give feature to search other local users and see what they are using. Few iPhones, fewer In The Mood users locally so feature no so great for me.

I Heart Radio- Radio station app more like AOL Radio instead of Pandora, where it basically streams internet radio. Awesome quality, Very few interruptions. however, early morning actually has a “morning show” with personalities

Mactracker- just like the Mac app; you can roll through the years and all the different models of Apple products.

textPlus- phoneless texting app. Switch over to this in instances where you don’t have phone signal but have wi-fi, or for iPod Touch users over wi-fi.

inside redbox- app to access RedBox info, track down certain DVDs, find Red Boxes.

I’m usually loathe to blow my own horn but my first app called Piranha Pool just went live this week in the App Store. It’s a parody of Koi Pond. The feeding action, similar to Koi Pond is a little more frenzied and it has a noticeable color effect on the water if you know what I mean.
I’d be happy to send you a promo cod eif you like. I think you’ll get a kick out of it.

Star Defense is easily one of the best games on the appstore. The graphics are really great, and I like how unlike other tower defense games, this one has a 3D battlefield. I also like that you can zoom in and out. Another thing is the Plus+ netowork. That just give it an extra level of fun and competition. I mean I have only had it for a few days, but already I love it.
