i wasn’t sure if i should get this podcast or not. I mean how good could a podcast about the iphone really be, i mean, its a phone. But after listening to ELR and the instance for quite some time now i figured I’d give it a shot. I have to say im very impressed! ep 1 was great! Scott johnson now rules over half of my iphone’s podcast list. We must stop his tyrannical takeover of the podcast realm!!!!
Hey guys, I sympathize with your ambivalence when forced to choose between the polar opposite ratings of “Slappy” and”Crappy.” If you’re looking for a middle ground, for those apps that show promise but are not quite ready for prime time, I’d suggest you rate them as “Gappy”–because there’s room to grow before they truly earn the “Slappy” label.
Ok I have listened to The Instance for a while and when I heard Scott was starting Appslappy I figured I would check it out. I have listened to all of them so far and I’m excited to hear the next one. Oh and Scott you can have 11 pages with the new iPhone 3g S. And the S stands for supreme lol.
You guys rock!! I just got a generation 2 iPod touch on June 17 and found your podcast and I read some reviews and decided to check it out. When I did I loved it. I’ve downloded several of the apps you guys talked about and they were awesome!
I’m just getting caught up with this podcast and I’d highly recommend it. Eric and Scott do a great job highlighting the news of the week and great reviews to help you find all those games and apps you’ve been looking for.
Wow! Just discovered the show and am catching up on the archives. What a great show! Love the easy flowing, conversational nature. Scott is the consummate host; the Leo Laporte of iPhone podcasting. Your format and style are golden. Keep it up!!
Picked up my first iPhone a couple weeks back (3GS) and stumbled across your podcast. I listened to the latest, and really dug it, so I’ve gone back to the first and am making my way through. Love it!
Question for ya… I’m a voice actor in Los Angeles, and am looking for a good way to record my auditions on the go. I have been hipped to programs like iProRecorder and FiRe, but have yet to find an input device that can sound semi professional. I used to have an iPod Touch, and I tried the Alesis ProTrack rig, but that sounded awful. I then moved on to the Blue Microphones Mikey, which I read good things about, but realized after it arrived that it wasn’t compatible with the Touch, so I returned it.
Now that I finally have an iPhone (a.k.a. God Phone), maybe I should give Blue Mikey another whirl. Before I do though, I was wondering if you fellahs had any input on the subject.
By the way, you both will have definitely heard my voice at some point as WOW players. I did the voice for Illidan. Har.
Hi Guys,
Just wanted to let you know that sometimes I miss the application name at the beginning of the review, or I forget it and I am just listening to your review and when its really good, that’s when I get interested and sometimes you don’t mention the name of the application again for me to write down. If you could mention the application name at the beginning and at the end, especially when you really like the app, that would be great!
Thanks
Hello Scott & Eric! I just got my first ITOUCH recently and found your podcast to help me make sense of what apps are out there worth getting… I love the podcast because while being informative, it’s enjoyable to listen to (not too techie like others). I have downloaded all your episodes but not made my way through all of them yet so i hope this question hasn’t already been answered….
Does an app exist that will give me one button access to my podcasts off the dashboard? Currently I have to go into MUSIC, MORE, PODCASTS then scroll through my selections. Not the end of the world, but the one and only thing that annoys me while driving…
Scott, I am a looking to do some decent screencasts for my office mates at the school of public health where I work. I think you do great work and was hoping you would say a few words or email me back about the software, hardware you use for podcasting/screencasting.
I have a mac but didn’t know which microphone to get and pop filters and that sort of thing and which software do you use for podcastng? I won’t even try to be as good as you and Eric are but down here in New Orleans a decent screencast about tools tips and tricks for my job will be very cool! Cheers. Keep the slappy apps coming. I listen to the show as soon as it comes out each week.
1) An interesting article about the “Top 10 iPhone Annoyances and How to Fix Them”. Not purely about apps, but related. http://bit.ly/GRd11
2) In addition to the great commentary about apps in news, reviews, etc., you also talk about apps in the listener feedback section of the show. Would it be possible to include those mentions in the show notes as well?
hi scott and eric i love your show its good it flows really well and i like when like scott or something makes a mistake you dont edit it out and its not too techie like OHHH

Love the show. I think you guys pick out the best apps. Plus Appslappy is the first podcast I have ever listened to and i’m hooked. Anyways, thats beside the point. What I wanted to know is why alot of the really good apps are firmware 3.0+ only. This is rather annoying since I dont fancy paying £9 for a couple of iTarded features. Help .
I just found you guys through a friend, and so far you guys are great.
My friend suggested I contact you to review my first App now just available in the App Store on Nov 11th, so drop me an email and let me know what’s the process.
I’m a pure neophyte as far as marketing, so feel free to point me in the right direction. My App, called iBlockade is a faithful port of the MacOS game Blockade from 1991 with the appropriate changes needed to work on the iPhone. Since it was one of my favorite old-style game, I thought it would be a great learning experience. Now, I want to unleash it, and start adding new and different puzzle features, hopefully with the feedback of my users.
