It was like the car was made of cardboard. Explosive cardboard.

I want their jobs. I so so so want their jobs. I want to blow up crap for a living! I could hardly believe me eyes seeing that thing go so fast…jaw dropping. Bloody amazing. And I want their jobs….coolest jobs on the planet.

  11. Benjamin

The shot with their shadows whizzing across the back of the bunker… made of awesome! And the car, like, evaporating, was pretty freakin’ amazing too. I could watch that high-speed all day :-)

  12. bhargos

coolest thing i’ve ever seen :D

  13. mercator

Wow. I didn’t know that show was even still on the air!

  14. Geir

If you noticed there was so much force in the crash that the front half of the car disintegrated instead of crushing. Look for the smoke that looks like the hood.

  15. mercator

    @Geir –

Definitely. There is a reddish mist above the impact where the paint is simply pulverized from the sled and the car into a reddish mist.

The dummy head in the pile adds a bit of gruesome to it to boot!

  16. mercator

Yes, I said reddish mist twice. It was that awesome. (ok three times now)

    reddish mist
    reddish mist

  17. DoggySpew

Mythbusters is science made from the phrase “Back off, man. I’m a scientist”

    Whoa.

  18. Asterix

    Sweet!

  19. BrainFloat

Top Gear presenter is the best job in the world. UK Top Gear – dunno what the US version is like, if there is one.

  20. Devilbob

Jamie is the Chuck D to Adam’s Flava-flav. Even in the beer-goggles experiment, Hyneman was the level headed straight man. I loved the expression Adam’s face in the slow motion playback.

  21. PurrNaK

First time I’ve seen this and I had the full face of Awe on when the second stage kicked in. Wow.

I wouldn’t want their job. I enjoy watching the outcomes of there job just as much. And I don’t have to build any of it. :)

But I would if I could.

  22. Helena

Oh. My. God. That is unbelievable… and so, so cool! lol

  23. Jason

Yeah they just keep getting better and better!

  24. Jim

I really like the follow up to this… but i think the video would need to be in HD to get the full idea :D

  25. CaveMark

That is all kinds of awesome and then some.

This is how high school science should be.

  26. mercator

Second best thing about Mythbusters? Kari. :D

  27. Seth

    Awesome…!

  28. Gawl

wow, that is fast. the car is obliterated!

  29. TheChao

You guys see how even the black stripes on the board came off as it flew past? Thats power right there.

  30. RedDwarfian

I love how the dummy head sitting there implies so much as to what was inside the car when that thing hit.

    Beautiful carnage! I love science.

  31. Eucep

Just gotta love em for what they do, they make me feel proud to be a geek.

  32. CaveMark

@mercator: I find myself wholeheartedly agreeing with you.

  33. Rob

Ah Science, such a thing of beauty…and distruction
